We are the Bowls Section of the Bengeo Club, part of the thriving community of Bengeo in the North of Hertford. We have about thirty playing members, although the Bengeo Club has more than 600 members and all members can use the Green. We pride ourselves in being a friendly place to play bowls. No blazers, no dress code, few rules, no egos and a commitment to welcoming people regardless of age, gender, or ability.

Our small four-rink green has an excellent playing surface in all weathers. We have a nice pavillion and the brilliant facilities of the Bengeo Club are available to our players throughout the year. This is an excellent place to learn the sport of Lawn Bowls in a low pressure environment where you will get the opportunity to play competitively or just space to play socially with your friends. Bowls is not an expensive game to play and we can often lend you woods from the Club's stock, though most people go on to acquire their own.

We play competitively on weekday evenings in the Welwyn and Hatfield mixed league and have a series of friendly matches against clubs in Hertfordshire on Sunday afternoons. There are opportunities for members to play in individual competitions associated with our league and also to play in County competitions if they wish. We have a series of internal competitions too including singles and pairs competitions. There is a 'Ladder' open to all members who challenge one another to determine a rank order. Every monday afternoon and evening we have an informal 'roll up' when you can take part in scratch matches or practice drills which vary in their degree of seriousness! and, of course, members can play any time a rink is free on an informal basis with other members or guests.

We hold a range of Social events during the year and the Bengeo Club is a pleasant place to share a drink or a coffee with friends.

In general, selection for league matches is on merit whilst the aim is to give everyone an opportunity to play in friendly matches.
